Napoleon invaded Russia in June of 1812...?

the two coldest winters in russian history were the one of 1812 when napoleon invaded and the winter after hitler invaded. The russian strategy was the same both times, scorched earth. The russians continuously fell back further and further into there own country burning everything behind them and destroying anything that could be used to help their enemies. The farther into russia you get the longer your supply lines become and the harder it is to feed, cloth, and arm your soldiers. The russians destroyed all food and burned the buildings you could take shelter in. By doing this they let the cold do a lot of their dirty work for them. Then they had a chance to gather their strength and prepare a counter offensive that they could execute on their own time table.
