Are sociopathic posers a growing epidemic in our society?

Its kind of funny in a way. Me and my family dealt with a sociopath (My step dad) who pretended to care for us, used my mom for , got us to sell everything from the previous state we lived in so we could make a living with him but really, just so he would have full control now that when we left with him, we were very vulnerable. He threatened my mom and when we finally forced are self out of the house. He made it look like we threw things at him and we were avoiding him because we were convicts but luckily I guess he got bored and didn't go along with it anymore. YEars later when we all got our life back on track, me and my bother got in fights and argued on who was the better manipulator lol. And that goes with school to, kids try and manipulate and get what they want and who is the better lyer. PLUS, every time I get on yahoo answers I see questions like "AM I SOCIOPATH?" and they give all these symptoms just so they can get recognition from the yahoo answer community that they are some bad@$$ sociopath. IT seems to be a growing epidemic with a lot of teenage kids xD, or people in vulnerable situations. bUT What do you think, and explain why a person wants to be this way?
