Cat and Bird?? Advice Please?

I want to get a Senegal Parrot really badly-but I have 2 cats- one of them is a SUCCESSFUL hunter and the other is a UNSUCCESSFUL hunter....Any ways to make this work without the bird getting too stressed out? I could have him or her in my room, but I have heard that causes diseases??
